1.) Customers frequently ask if we can remove and replace rusty screws on their existing screen enclosure.
Answer: Yes, we can and we have been using 410 stainless steel fasteners for more than 20 years with much success. These stainless fasteners are xylan coated and painted to match our aluminum framing (bronze or white). We can even replace the 1x2 channel on the bottom around the entire enclosure.
2.) Another question we receive is regarding the type of screen we use.
Answer: Bill Johns, owner of Advanced Aluminum, has been working in the screen business for more than 45 years. He has always liked Phifer screens, which are manufactured in Alabama. The life of your screen should last at least 8-10 years. We have customers who haven't replaced the screen for 12 years and are still doing well.
Many manufacturers of screens have popped up since the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes. Be aware of this fact. Some of these new screens only last 3 years. Question the salesperson or contractor regarding the type of screen he uses. Phifer is the best. We have installers who have worked with our company for 17 years and they will tell you the same thing.
Also, please know when we re-screen a pool enclosure, we roll the screen into each section in the roof. We do not sheet the roof, which is what inexperienced screeners do to the customer. In the trade, we call this not rolling the purlins.
We roll the Purlins so your screen remains tight for a long time to come!
